Michael Herren leads our Savannah division, delivering cutting-edge industrial and logistics facilities as BEHKO invests in regional growth
As Savannah establishes itself as one of the Southeast’s most critical logistics and distribution hubs, BEHKO is strategically investing in our presence in this rapidly growing market. Leading that expansion is Michael Herren, our Division Manager for Savannah, whose expertise in design-build industrial construction and advanced infrastructure projects positions BEHKO to deliver the kind of innovative, complex facilities that are shaping the region’s future.
Michael’s approach to industrial construction is defined by his comprehensive understanding of design-build project delivery. His expertise spans advanced logistics facilities, specialized industrial infrastructure, and cutting-edge clean energy systems—each demanding strategic planning, technical coordination, and the kind of disciplined project management that keeps complex facilities on schedule and within budget.
Michael’s background in construction management, combined with his Georgia and South Carolina unlimited general contractor licenses, OSHA 30 certification, and Part 107 Remote Pilot credentials, provides the technical foundation and regulatory knowledge essential for managing BEHKO’s increasingly complex industrial projects in the Savannah market.
“Michael represents exactly the kind of strategic leadership we need in Savannah,” said Razvan “Raz” Cojocaru, Managing Owner. “He doesn’t just manage construction—he understands how industrial facilities must serve logistics operations, meet specialized infrastructure requirements, and integrate advanced systems. That comprehensive approach to design-build is why we’re investing in growing our Savannah presence.”
Michael’s leadership of BEHKO’s Savannah projects demonstrates the firm’s capacity to deliver innovative industrial facilities that advance both regional infrastructure and national clean energy goals:
BEHKO partnered with Capital Development Partners (CDP) to deliver two state-of-the-art flex industrial facilities at Rockingham Farms within Central Port Logistics Center. The development adds 300,000 square feet of premier logistics space serving the Savannah port market.
Each 150,000-square-foot building sits on a combined 30 acres with high visibility and direct Veterans Parkway access. Located just 2.5 miles from I-516, 3 miles from HWY 204, 4 miles from I-16, 8 miles from I-95, and 5 miles from Savannah Ocean Terminal, the facilities offer exceptional connectivity for regional and national distribution.
The buildings feature robust infrastructure to support Class A logistics operations. The development is expected to generate significant job growth and strengthen the supply chain network in one of the nation’s fastest-growing port markets, reflecting BEHKO’s commitment to delivering high-quality design-build solutions that advance economic development across the Southeast.
BEHKO Construction built HTWO Energy Savannah—the first high-volume hydrogen production and refueling station designed for Class-8 trucks in the United States. Serving as general contractor and design-build partner, BEHKO delivered a facility producing up to 1,200 kg of hydrogen daily to fuel Hyundai’s XCIENT fuel-cell trucks operating between the Port of Savannah and Hyundai’s Metaplant America EV factory.
BEHKO’s scope encompassed sitework engineered for Class-8 truck circulation, structural steel and refueling canopies, safety envelopes meeting hydrogen operation requirements, and electrical infrastructure integrating production, storage, and dispensing systems.
BEHKO partnered with HydroFleet, Capital Development Partners, and Hyundai Motor Group. The firm’s 3D modeling capability coordinated equipment and safety systems, while regional expertise enabled efficient permitting.
The facility positions Savannah as a national model for clean port logistics and establishes a replicable template for hydrogen stations across North America.
These projects demonstrate Michael’s ability to coordinate complex design-build teams, navigate specialized infrastructure requirements, and deliver facilities that meet the exacting standards of major industrial and clean energy clients.
Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management with a minor in Business from Georgia Southern University. His comprehensive credentials include:
This combination of formal education, professional licensing, and specialized certifications provides Michael with the technical foundation and regulatory knowledge essential for managing complex industrial construction across the region.
“Michael’s approach to design-build construction embodies our culture at BEHKO,” said Jordan Behringer, Managing Owner. “He understands that advanced industrial facilities—whether cutting-edge hydrogen stations or premier logistics centers—demand more than just construction expertise. They require strategic coordination, technical precision, and the ability to deliver innovative solutions. That’s exactly why we’re investing in expanding our Savannah presence.”
With Michael leading our Savannah division, BEHKO is positioned to serve one of the Southeast’s fastest-growing industrial markets. The Central Port Logistics Center and HTWO Energy Savannah projects demonstrate our capacity to deliver both traditional industrial facilities and groundbreaking clean energy infrastructure—positioning us to pursue the kind of bold, innovative projects that define the region’s future.
As Savannah continues to attract major logistics operations and pioneering clean energy initiatives, BEHKO is committed to bringing our Bold Excellence to the industrial projects that are shaping the region’s growth. Michael D. Herren’s leadership—combined with BEHKO’s 35 years of design-build expertise—positions us to deliver the kind of complex, innovative industrial facilities that others might shy away from.
“The Savannah market is experiencing unprecedented industrial growth—from traditional logistics to groundbreaking clean energy infrastructure,” Michael said. “BEHKO’s reputation for taking on complex projects and delivering exceptional results is exactly what this market needs. Leading our expansion here and establishing BEHKO as the design-build partner of choice for the region’s most ambitious facilities is an exciting challenge.”
From hydrogen production stations to premier logistics centers, BEHKO is building Savannah’s industrial future.
